Today’s Quote

Violence as a way of achieving racial justice
is both impractical and immoral.
I am not unmindful of the fact that violence often brings about momentary results.
Nations have frequently won their independence in battle. But in spite of temporary victories,
violence never brings permanent peace.

Golden Gate Bridge. Connecting San Francisco and Marin County in 1937, for many years this was the longest suspension bridge in world. Experts thought that winds, ocean currents, and fog would make it impossible to build. It took about four years to complete the beautiful 1.2-mile-long bridge. It is held by 80,000 mi worth of steel wire, and the cables that link the two towers are 36.5 inches in diameter the biggest ever made.

My Rambling Thoughts

There is a decent rain falling in this little mountain town. Hopefully this is not going to bring flooding. It is keeping us cool.

What a way to wake up. Another mass shooting, less than one day from the last. There are no easy answers. When is the finger-pointing going to stop? How do we stop individuals from getting these weapons? How do we accept that there are mentally ill people living among us and how do we help them? Why are there so many ‘hate’ sites on the internet? Who is going to come forward with a workable plan to stop this unnecessary violence?  The alternative seems to be to do nothing.

Instead of ‘Thoughts and Prayers’, how about ‘Policy & Change’?

It’s been a week since I talked to the HOA regarding the pine needle clean up in our back area. Still no action, so I’ll start calling again. Even with the rain, the needles are a fire hazard. Our local paper had an article about fire prevention. Number one was ‘keep your property clear of dead brush’. Guess the HOA doesn’t read the paper.

51- Gianluca Vacchi (ENTREPRENEUR)

Puzzle answer:

The answer is 1024 ways, up to rotation around the table. To see this, notice that the youngest honorable knight must sit right next to King Arthur – there are two possible places for him. Then, the second youngest knight must sit right next to this group of two. Once again, there are two possible places for him. Continuing like this, we see that for all honorable knights, except for the oldest one, there are two possible spots on the table. Multiplying two to the power of ten out, we get 1024.
