My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Another nice day as my recovery continues…All good.

Went to Sam’s to pick up some stuff. I always go to the self-checkout to avoid the lines. Today the scanner wouldn’t recognize my card, A guy came and fixed it. I was buying some soap and the scanner put 3 on the computer, instead of one. I removed the two but needed the guy again to really take them off. Got everything done, ready to pay. Machine froze. The same guy came over and said these machines are really old and cause problems all the time. He had to do several tries but got is to accept my card. Then the receipt showed I bought 6 items, when I really bought 7. I checked the receipt and couldn’t figure out what was missing. Headed for the last stop to check my receipt. He did his thing and said I was free to go. So, I left.

It got really cloudy in the late afternoon, then after dark there was lots of lightning, lots of thunder, lightning within 2 miles. All that activity to get no moisture falling from the sky. Discouraging.

Those undecided people are a tough bunch. In a recent survey on unvaccinated said: 94% say an international travel ban will not change their mind, 95% say FDA approval will not change their mind, and 87% say employer mandate will not change their mind.

Coconino, one of our two high schools had to cancel their opening football game set for tonight because one student-athlete tested positive for COVID. Not a great way to start a season. Tough on the seniors on that team.

The 10th was my brother and Laura’s 21st wedding anniversary. Wishing them continued happiness.

It is hard to believe it is the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Everyone I know remembers that day. That day changed America in ways we would never have believed. There is now a Dept. Homeland Security; the TSA; immigration problems; pulling out of a war we would never win, and a division this country hasn’t seen since the Civil War. So sad.
