My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

A few clouds over the mountain, still a nice warm day.

The Feds are planning on giving out free crack cocaine pipes to help support community-based overdose prevention. Sounds a tad far-fetched to me.

NBC has provided the Olympic coverage in the US since 1988. Beijing has not been great for the ratings of the NBC coverage. Part of the problem may be China’s human rights violations. Another part is that all the snow/ice we see is man-made snow. Any views away from the actual race ‘field’ show that there is NO snow. While the temperatures have been chilly to very cold, the snow is man-made. Anyone who has been on real snow and man-made snow know the difference. There is not a setting for ‘wet’, ‘powder’, etc. Until this year, any outdoor events at the winter Olympics had the possibility of light snow, heavy snow, blizzard, etc. Outdoor events have always had some of the athletes competing in falling snow. While I am still enjoying the athletes, the venues are more like Disneyland than real life. The IOC really should have picked a normally snowy venue. I now wonder if the IOC will consider Antarctica for some future summer Olympics…if the price is right.
