Thoughts for the day

A nice winter day but not happy with the very cool breeze.

I thought American colonization was in the past. Let’s see, Trump wants Panama, Greenland, and now the Gaza Strip. In his latest the US would own Gaza, everyone there would be displaced, and he would build hotels and golf courses. How long will our international friends and the republicans in congress do something to stop this?

Mayan Culture of Mexico and beyond…

The largest Mayan city is in Guatemala.

The majority of travelers are most familiar with Chichen Itza, but it is not the largest Mayan city.

That title is reserved for the ancient city of Tikal in Guatemala. Spanning more than 47 square miles, Tikal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and used to be one of the most powerful capital cities in the Mayan world.

Random Thoughts…

If there are an infinite amount of alternate universes, then there must be an alternate universe in which somebody figured out how to destroy all other alternate universes and already did so. There must be another guy from another universe who stopped him.

Oxford University is older than the Aztec Empire.

 Biggest film of 1992: Aladdin (Action/Adventure) earned ~ $217,000,000

While prostitution is legal in Queensland Australia, advertising said services by skywriting is not.

Origin of city nicknames…

Bethlehem, PA

Bethlehem gained its name from the Moravians who settled there and christened it thus on Christmas Eve 1741. And with a name like that it was always going to be associated with Christmas. The Moravians certainly helped on that front too – they were responsible for the first ever documented Christmas Tree in America in 1747, decorating it with apples, candles and Bible verses. However, it has only officially been known as ‘Christmas City’ since 1937. Visitors flock to the city to take in the festive spirit at the Christkindlmarkt, enjoy Christmas Carriage rides through the street and listen to carols sung in the Moravian Church.
