are here…weather guy says first major snowfall this week. Predicting 4-8”. I’m
not worried and will just await its arrival.
Brazil
may have a returning leader after elections…but far right-wing current
President may claim voter fraud. I guess that is the far-right strategy around
the world. Not a good sign.
Here
is a dentist rant: Growing up in Colorado, I went to the same dentist even
after I moved to Arizona. I had twice yearly checkups until the family dentist retired.
I then found an office in Flagstaff that I have been going to ever since…about 40
years. That office and the dentist has changed hands at least 5 times and the hygienist
has changed much more often. Today I went in for a cleaning by yet another new hygienist.
I had to give her a list of my meds since she claimed it wasn’t on the
computer. She also told me I had some deep pockets which is weird since I brush,
floss and waterpik twice a day and there is never any blood. Then she took X
rays. Then the dentist came in. She pointed out I had a temporary crown on a
tooth…since 2020. The dentist who did the work said maybe it was missed because
of COVID. Getting no satisfaction, they checked my ‘records’ and there was a
note that I said I didn’t want the crown because I was getting an implant or a
bridge next to that tooth. I said that was impossible. Why would I decline a
crown, to replace a temporary one, due to a bridge that would connect to that
tooth. They agreed it was odd. I set up an appointment to get a crown to
replace the temporary one, but am now looking for another dentist office.

"Classical Gas" by Mason Williams (1968)
A brilliant
piece of work from this celebrated classical guitarist. Though many in rock or
pop circles today have little recollection or knowledge of the song, it's
enjoyed some steady staying power. Williams' exceptional acoustic piece, which
reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, has been used in films and as the
opening theme for a nighttime newscast in Baltimore during the 1970s.

Diehard
The term "diehard" dates back
to the 1700s. But it wasn't quite used to describe a huge fan of something.
Instead, it was attributed to those who struggled the longest when hanged!
A few years later, the term became
popular after its use in 1811’s Battle of Albuera, when British officer William
Inglis supposedly told his men: "Stand your ground and die hard … make the
enemy pay dear for each of us!"

1898 – Cheerleading was started at the
University of Minnesota with Johnny Campbell leading the crowd in cheering on
