Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
There
were lots of clouds earlier today and I thought the storm was arriving early.
Nope, clouds are mostly gone. Storm due Sunday evening.
As
a teacher, the February bulletin board was always a silhouette of Abe, George,
some lace and hearts along with the AZ state flag.
Guess
I’m ready for the Super Bowl. There will be a Navajo young man, Collin Denny,
who will be signing America the Beautiful’
in Native American Sign Language as well as American Sign language.
Looking forward to
that part of the show. In addition, Lucinda Hinojos (b. 1981; Pascua Yaqui,
Chiricahua Apache, White Mountain Apache, and Pima (Akimel O'Odham)) has a huge
mural visible in downtown Phoenix to welcome visitors.

Meaning: become excited or enthusiastic
about a favored subject or activity, especially those considered to be out of
the cultural mainstream
In the early 1900s, “geeks” was another
way to describe sideshow acts, shifting in the ‘40s to mean a circus’ “wild
men.” The term became associated with those interested in new technology and science
fiction at the expense of social graces in the 1980s, as computers became more
popular in the home. The word’s derogatory meaning has weakened in recent
years, as nerd culture has gone mainstream.
Trivia…
The name Shell Oil was appropriated by
Marcus Samuel, one of the company's founders. His father ran a London retail
outlet called the Shell Shop, where he sold bags decorated with seashells. This
grew into an import-export business, which diversified into a business that
imported oil and kerosene.
