Just after noon the clouds began dropping nice monsoon rain on our land. Nice!

Yesterday’s lunch with my retired financial advisor was very good and lasted almost 2 hours. She is doing well in S. Carolina, but wishes she was in Flagstaff again. She said as a widowed female, she doesn’t really ‘fit-in’ with the culture there. She has some female friends, but holidays and most social things are ‘for family only’. She also recounted that she had a medical procedure on her leg here in Flagstaff. The cost was $45, billed to insurance. She had the exact same procedure in SC and Medicare was billed $7,000 which Medicare rejected, leaving her with the bill. She fought with Medicare, then got the codes used on the AZ procedure and sent them to Medicare. Medicare paid the new bill in full and said that it was a coding error. She believes it was fraud.

Hunter and family got a big surprise when the judge did not accept the plea agreement as written. It is being reworked. Addition sure leads to problems for the user and the user’s family.

One hundred protesters started out at Tel Aviv on a 4-day walk to Jerusalem to demonstrate against the new Judicial Rules. In that 4-day walk, the protesters grew to almost 20,000.

Yesterday Biden and Harris dedicated the Emmett Till/Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument at 3 sites, the river where his body was discovered, the District Courthouse where the killers were found not-guilty, and the church were Emmett Till’s funeral changed the Civil Rights Movement. It was dedicated on the 82^nd anniversary of Emmett’s birth. Good move.

Glad the union and managers found a solution that will prevent a UPS strike. That is great news.

Hundreds of Nazis fled to America after WWII.

According to NPR, hundreds of Nazis settled in the United States after the war. According to the book and review, many entered the country one by one and served as spies for American intelligence officials. They were able to start over, living under false names so as to protect their identities and past.

The Berlin Wall

"Nobody has the intention of building a wall," insisted East German head of state Walter Ulbricht in June 1961. Two months later, work began on what was to become the Berlin Wall. It stood as a symbol of division and oppression until finally being torn down in 1989.

Random Trivia…

In 1386, a pig was executed in France. In the Middle Ages, the pig attacked a child who went to die later from their wounds. The pig was arrested, kept in prison, and then sent to court where it stood trial for murder, was found guilty, and then executed by hanging!
