My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Nice Saturday
to begin the Labor Day Weekend. Warm, slight breeze, lots to do in town. I went
to an outdoor Art Show downtown. Lots of nice stuff. Met a few friends from
the Rez as I wandered around. Might even go back tomorrow. While watching
the news I heard a reporter make a statement I had to check on the internet
machine. He was right. WOW! I did not know that the main language in
Afghanistan…Dari… is the same language as Iraq’s Farsi. Turns out it is like
the difference between American English and British English. I sure hope those who are vetting people
into this country know this. In Tucson, a
school principal was confronted by a father and two other men when his son
was told the son had to quarantine after being exposed to Covid. The female
principal tried to explain, but the group had zip ties they were waving
around saying they were going to do a ‘citizen’s arrest’. Police were finally
called, the men were charged with trespassing and interfering with public
education. They left. This is crazy. The Dept of
Interior now requires all staff in the schools they fund to be vaccinated. It
isn’t clear if the unvaccinated can simply take a covid test. Turns out that is only for Bureau operated
schools. The grant and contract schools who run on Federal funds are under
the tribal laws…so each tribe will decide about vaccines. It is very
confusing, as usual. |
