Thoughts for the day

A hot summer day to end June.

I have another long blood treatment on Monday, so I won’t be posting tomorrow.

Our discussion group was very enlightening. While Climate Change is a fearful subject, the group concluded that the answers are not in the politicians, but in the everyday people from every community, doing what they can to protect our earth.  While it is still daunting, it can be done.

The same seems to be true for the mess our country is in. The positivity is going to come from the people, not the politicians.

Famous Historical Myths That People Still Believe Today

The Titanic Sank Due to an Iceberg Alone ©R. Welch on Wikimedia Commons

The Titanic's collision with an iceberg was a major factor in its sinking, but it was not the only cause. Weak rivets, poor-quality steel, and design flaws also contributed to the disaster. If the ship had been built with better materials, it might have stayed afloat longer.

Random Thoughts…

The act of hitting something until it works is called “Percussive maintenance.”

You’d think if a sophisticated race of ancient aliens came to earth to build pyramids and stuff, they’d have someone who’d be able to draw more than stick figures in a cave.

The word Crusade comes from the Latin word crociata, which means “to mark with a cross.”

Robert E. Lee and Douglas MacArthur had the second, and third, highest scores respectively at graduation in the history of the United States Military Academy. The highest scorer, Charles Mason, resigned from the US Army two years after graduating from West Point.

There’s no official word for a group of Koalas because they are solitary animals.

Americans spend more money on slot machines than on movies, baseball, and theme parks combined.
