Thoughts for the day
Our mountain town has needed moisture
for the most of winter, and now it is coming true. It’s been snowing on and off
since last night. Probably about 5” is on the ground with more coming down. I
stocked up and will enjoy this beautiful snow.
Yesterday Andy mentioned that he had
gotten his back social security yesterday. This morning, I checked my bank
account and I too got a nice fat deposit for the money I was owed. Now I must
wait to see what my new monthly payment will be.
Lowell Observatory, where Pluto was discovered
has been named The Best Science Museum in the country by Newsweek. An
honor they have certainly earned.
Forgotten American Heros…
Anna Ella Carroll
Anna Ella Carroll was a political
strategist and writer who played a crucial role during the Civil War. Her
expertise in military strategy influenced key decisions that impacted the course
of the war.
Despite her significant
contributions, Carroll's work often went unrecognized due to her gender. Her
legacy highlights the importance of acknowledging the roles women have played
in shaping history and the need for recognition of their achievements.
Symbols of the USA and their meaning
The American Flag
The American flag, affectionately known as
the Stars and Stripes, is more than just a colorful banner. It has 13 stripes
to honor the original colonies that stood at the dawn of the nation's history,
alongside 50 stars to represent each state in the union today.
Each color of the flag holds its own story: red for valor and bravery, white
for purity and innocence, and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.
This flag is a testament to the ideals of freedom and democracy that the United
States fiercely defends.
In times of conflict and peace, the flag serves as a rallying point for unity
and pride among all Americans. It waves proudly across the nation, reminding
its citizens of the sacrifices made for liberty.
