My Rambling Thoughts
Really nice day, but a bit windy for my taste.
Talked to Mary this morning and she is still in Phx after a
harrowing weekend. Their water bill was for 57,000 gallons of water. Front yard
dug up, no leaks. Pool checked, no leaks. Meter checked, no problems. After
four days of messing around, the bottom line this afternoon was that when their
sprinkler system failed to turn off and ran constantly for at least 3 days that
used up the water. The neighbor had called her in Flag back then to ask if they
knew the sprinklers were running 24/7. Amazing how much water was used by that
sprinkler system.
Needless to say, she is staying in Phx until the weekend and
Cheryl is still in Michigan, so our weekly lunch won’t occur this week.
When I heard that the FBI is flying private planes around major
cities to ‘watch’ criminals, I was not surprised. There is no privacy in the
US. Sidebar: Our local paper had an article last week that a ‘military training’
is taking place on the outskirts of our little mountain town and that there
will be various military helicopters or planes flying around this week. I haven’t
seen any, but have heard a lot more helicopters in the area. Normal life in
2015. Sad.
Note: When traveling anywhere and encountering a wild animal,
remember they are called ‘wild’ for a reason. Doesn’t matter if in Africa,
Yellowstone, or the AZ desert…they are called wild for a reason. This may sound
harsh, but the wild animal is going to do what is always does…as the visitor,
follow the rules…always!

75 YEARS AGO-1940
Twenty-three persons appeared before Examiner R. A . Scott of
Tucson for a Naturalization Hearing on the 24th of this month and were granted
citizenship in the United States of America at that time.
Work is going on for the new Coco-Cola Co. bottling plant on
Phoenix Avenue. The building is to be 130 feet by 50 feet with 18-inch-thick
walls 12 feet high. The concrete floor, steel truss roof with wood purling and
sheathing is to be topped with a metal roof. It also will have large in and out
doors for the convenience of loading and unloading.

Yep, It Really
Happened
Franklin,
TN - A woman was charged with driving under the influence after
consuming whipped cream. Police said that 28-year-old Anna Thomas of Franklin, used
cans of aerosol whipped cream to get high. She was charged with driving under
the influence after crashing her car. When police arrived, Thomas was
disoriented. Officers found 13 cans of whipped cream scattered inside the
vehicle. Almost all of the bottles were empty. No pie was discovered.

Somewhat Useless
Information
The
Stanley Cup was created by Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley (Lord Stanley of
Preston), the Governor General of Canada from 1888 to 1893. After purchasing
the cup in London for about $50 at the time, he donated it and had it awarded
to Canada's top amateur hockey club. It was first awarded to the Montreal
Amateur Athletic Association in 1893.
There are three versions of the Stanley Cup: The original bowl, purchased in
1892, was retired in 1962 and is displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in
Toronto. The Presentation Cup has been awarded since 1963, and the team keeps
it for 100 days, with each player getting a day with it. The Replica Cup is
used as a stand-in at the Hall of Fame whenever the Presentation Cup is absent.
A new Cup isn't made every year. The trophy is passed from one champion to the
next, and names of the winning players, coaches, management and staff are added
to the lowest of the five rings. When the rings become full, the oldest band is
removed and sent to the Hall of Fame. A blank replacement band is then added.
Each ring holds 13 teams.
Some engraving errors were not corrected, including the 1980-81 Islanders team
that is misspelled as "Ilanders,"and the 1971-72 Boston Bruins shown
as "Bqstqn Bruins."
When members of the 1924 champion Montreal Canadians got a flat tire on the way
to the team's victory banquet, they removed the Cup from the trunk of the car
to get to the spare tire and left the Cup on the side of the road. They found
it later laying in a snow bank.
In 1950, Detroit Red Wings captain Ted Lindsay began the tradition of winning
players hoisting the Cup.
