My Rambling Thoughts

Quick visit to blood doc. All is well.

About a week ago the local school district announced that some personal info may have been stolen from their computer system. Yesterday at 3:30 I got an announcement that all Flagstaff District schools would be closed on Thurs and possibly Fri due to a Ransomware attack. All after school activities were cancelled. No decision on what to do. As usual, all staff with 9 or 12 month contracts still had to report to work. In today’s computer world, not much that staff can do without a computer. I’m sure they will stay busy. Sad, as AZ school are much underfunded and paying any amount of extra money not in the budget will cause major problems.  

A retired Gifted teacher from TCBS retired about 6 years ago and moved to a Florida beach. She’s in contract with a friend and retired teacher in our Retirement Group. Every few years she has to evacuate. When she returns she says FEMA replaces what needs to be replaced…roof, siding, windows, etc. Haven’t heard about Dorian, but I’m sure FEMA will do it again. I understand that she loves beach life and enjoys many a day there. It somehow doesn’t seem right that the FEDS (my tax dollars) allow it to be fixed every few years at no cost to her. She is not the only one, as many homes have been completely rebuilt several times in known hurricane or flooding areas. Sounds like the rules need to be changed. I have no problem when homes are FEMA replaced or fixed after an unusual event where the event was unexpected.
