My Free
Rambling Thoughts
Hot and dry with dark afternoon clouds…still no moisture.I spent most of the day in Williams and it was great. We had a late celebration of Cheryl’s birthday with lunch at a really good Mexican Restaurant. Then we wandered the streets of Williams and visited the new Co op gallery. Much larger than the old one, with lots of cool stuff. Then it was off to Bearizona to catch up on the many wild animals. We saw this year’s new cubs out playing in the heat and last year’s cubs with really long legs romping in another habitat. A good day all around. Lots of tourists around, so this place will be around for quite a while.I’m quite disturbed that the government is keeping track of all my Verizon phone calls to businesses that also use Verizon. I just don’t buy the story that they are routinely collecting the data and no one is looking at it. Really? How dumb they think we are. They aren’t looking at the stuff because no one can prove they are looking at it. In time, my friends, in time…we will find that they are looking at all that data. I need to realize that there is very little privacy left for American citizens. And tonight’s news that this invasion of privacy includes internet use is even more disturbing. Obama and his administration are not the first to do this…it started under Bush II. However, it is said to have increased exponentially during the current administration.

Unusual Fact of the Day
The “french” in french fries actually describes the way the spuds are sliced, not their country of origin.Joke-of-the-day
They were watching a TV soap opera, and he became irritated by the way his wife was taking it to heart. “How can you sit there and cry about the made-up troubles of people you’ve never even met?” he demanded.“The same way you can jump up and scream when some guy you’ve never met scores a touchdown,” she replied.

Yeah, It Really Happened
PLANTATION, Fla. - A Florida woman who has been collecting Barbies for 23 years said her home is filled with more than 3,000 of the fashion dolls. Lori Birkeneder, 53, said her Plantation living room is filled with glass display cases for the dolls and one bedroom is completely filled with Barbies, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday. Birkeneder said she spends about $10,000 each year on Barbie dolls and accessories and another $5,000 is budgeted for visiting conventions for collectors of the toy line. She said she is attracted to the imaginative aspect of Barbie. "It's about the fun and fantasy and fashion of it all that reminds you of when you were a kid, and if you want to be philosophical about it, of simpler times," Birkeneder said. "For most collectors, that's what it is about."
Somewhat Useless Information
Although it costs less than ten cents per ounce to produce, popcorn in movie theaters will typically cost you around $5, which ounce-for-ounce is more than filet mignon! Movie theaters mark up pop corn and many other concessions over 1,000 percent! It costs a carrier about one-third of a cent to deliver a text message. Users, however, generally pay between 10 to 20 cents per text. That is a markup of over 6,500 percent!

All ‘data’ info is from the internet
sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned
that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there,
many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events
occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be
totally accurate.
