Free Rambling Thoughts   

Spent plenty of time in outside in our great weather…except for some wind. Still nice.

 

Got an email from my roommate and we are waiting till we get on board to sign up for any excursions. That is fine with me…I’m usually a last minute guy anyway.

 

Went to the mall and found two nice sweaters at Dillards…total price was less than $20 thanks to the 50% off and then 65% off that price.  Can’t beat Dillards end of season sales. Weatherman says I may be able to wear them this week as temps are dropping about 20° for the next few days. It’s spring in Flagstaff.

 

This afternoon I caught up on my weekly DVRed programs. A nice way to spend a windy afternoon. And I really like the DVR so I can skip all the commercials and promos…which sure makes the one hour programs much shorter.

Literal meaning.

Origin

This is quite an early proverb in the English language and, as such, might be thought to contain the wisdom of the ancients. The notion was known by the late 16th century, when it was expressed in rhyme by Thomas Tusser inFive Hundreth Pointes of Good Husbandrie, 1573:

A foole & his money, 

be soone at debate: 

which after with sorow, 

repents him to late.

The precise wording of the expression comes just a little later, in Dr. John Bridges' Defence of the Government of the Church of England, 1587:

If they pay a penie or two pence more for the reddinesse of them..let them looke to that, a foole and his money is soone parted.

The local sheriff was looking for a deputy, so Gomer, who was not exactly the sharpest nail in the bucket, went in to try out for the job.

"Okay," the sheriff drawled, "Gomer, what is 1 and 1?"

"11" he replied.

The sheriff thought to himself, "That's not what I meant, but he's right. What two days of the week start with the letter 'T'?"

"Today and tomorrow."

The sheriff was again surprised that Gomer supplied a correct answer that he had never thought of himself.

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Denny's has opened the chain's first wedding chapel, with $95 buying space for the ceremony, a bottle of champagne and a Pancake Puppies cake. The Denny's Wedding Chapel officially opened for business Wednesday and the restaurant said wedding parties will receive 20 percent off their food bills, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday. The wedding packages include the space, celebratory beverage and a cake made from the restaurant chain's Pancake Puppies breakfast offering.
