Thoughts for the day
It is a little cooler today but still
very nice.
I had lunch with Andy and Faith. They
are heading back tomorrow for their Phoenix place. Faith’s brother, her sister,
and brother-in-law are coming for a visit in May. I’m looking forward to
meeting up with them again. It will be a busy month for the Tah’s with this
visit, their grandson’s graduation, and in early June a cruise to Alaska. I’ll
be watering their property while they are gone.
On Monday, RFK, Jr. promised a big
announcement regarding the causes of autism for today. Today he announced that
he has a committee of doctors studying the causes of autism. That was the big
announcement.

From 100 CE to 940 CE, the African empire of Axum stood as
one of the world’s dominant trading powers. Known for its colossal obelisks and
early adoption of Christianity, Axum’s trade routes linked Africa, Arabia, and
the Roman Empire.

The world’s longest-running
laboratory experiment “demonstrates the fluidity and high viscosity of pitch, a
derivative of tar once used for waterproofing boats.” In 1930 pitch
was left in a glass funnel to drip out and has only dropped 9 times: about once
every 10 years, most recently on April 17, 2014.

Taught in High School but not true…
Dinosaurs are completely extinct
If you didn’t already know this fun fact, you can rejoice
that you walk the earth with dinosaurs! It’s now understood that birds are descendants
of theropod dinosaurs, meaning dinosaurs are not completely extinct.
Paleontologist Steve Brusatte, author of the book The Rise and Fall of the
Dinosaurs, told Reader’s Digest, “Today’s birds evolved from
dinosaurs, which makes them every bit as much of a dinosaur as T. rex or
Triceratops.”
