Another chilly fall morning.
I had lunch with our retirement group
today. Good food, great conversation. Everybody is doing well. Mary is having
lots of medical tests, Faith’s sister is flying in to visit for a week. The waitress
couldn’t get the machine to split the check correctly. Andy paid the machine, I
paid the machine, and Mike paid the machine. Turns out I still owe Mike $7
after we got a print out of the bill. All good.

savior. But before you entertain the thought of auditioning for your own
action-hero role, let’s clear the air: your teeth aren’t cut out for this
high-stakes job.
Grenade pins are engineered to
withstand a level of force far beyond the capacity of your jaw. Trying to replicate
this cinematic feat might lead to an unexpected visit to the dentist—or worse,
an emergency room stay. The laws of physics simply don’t align with the
theatrical flair.

Mexico celebrates the Day of the Dead
with passion as a day of mourning, remembrance, and commemoration of
deceased family members and friends, as well as the death of a loved
one. Far from being a morbid event, the Day of the Dead emphasizes the memory
of past lives. The Mexican holiday is a time of celebration of death among
relatives and a day of mourning for the dead.
According to tradition, the gates of
heaven open at midnight on October 31 and the spirits of the children
can return to their families for 24 hours. The holiday is celebrated in Mexico
City between October 31 and November 2. While October 31 is Halloween,
November First is the day of mourning for the dead, or Dia de Los Dia Muerte,
in the Aztec tradition.
It is unofficial, but a widely
observed holiday. It is a holiday focused on remembering deceased family
members and friends, but something unique takes place during the Day of the
Dead celebrations. The Dia, sometimes called Dia de Los Fieles or Difuntos, is
celebrated on the first Sunday in November.

Chariot racing was quickly Rome’s most popular sport
Julius Caesar was not the only one to love chariot racing. He
was responsible for expanding Circus Maximus, Rome’s chariot racing ring, to
accommodate 150,000 to 200,000. Chariot racing was the most popular sport in
Rome. Each race consisted of four teams.
Each team had three racers, each with
four horses pulling a chariot. Although they occasionally had two drivers, the
most impressive sight was the ten-horse chariot which made frequent
appearances. The best seats were in the corners, which often saw racers thrown
from their chariots.

1952 - First thermonuclear bomb tested by the United States
