MY FREE RAMBLING THOUGHTS
A nice warm day with windows open, fresh air rushing in, and very little wind. Very nice. It is amazing that if my house were 67°, I would think of it as cool. But when it is outside, it is really nice. I was even able to take a nice walk after dinner.
I am bothered about the code name given to the kill Osama mission…the Seals called him Geronimo. So little awareness of Native culture and Native leaders. I’m sure it was ignorance and not racially motivated, still it was inappropriate.
I am also getting tired of all the second guessing of what happened, how it happened, what it was like inside the compound…it’s over, the terrorist is dead. Move on. Let’s get our soldiers home.
I heard an interesting take on the cost of Osama to the US. We know it has led to two wars and we know that dollar number is in the trillions. There is another cost that isn’t being talked about…what the US would have done with those trillions if we weren’t looking for Osama…Could those trillions been used to make jobs for Americans? Or maybe for educating our youth? Or maybe for putting Wall Street thieves into the court room? Or cutting everyone’s taxes instead of just the very rich? Or building our infrastructure in better roads, better bridges, etc? Or help for the masses with medical care costs? Of course we will never know…the money is gone. Just like convenient and hassle free air travel.

SOMEWHAT USELESS INFORMATION…
>Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout.
>According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
>One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
UNUSUAL NEWS ITEM:
Police say an armed man robbed a Lauderhill, Fla., CVS but was caught after he inadvertently left a trail of stolen cash behind him on his way to a laundromat.
The robbery happened at the CVS in the 5500 block of Oakland Park Blvd. around 9:30 p.m. Police say the man fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
But apparently the careless thief didn't have a tight hold on the loot and left a trail of money behind as he ran down the street.
Officers followed the trail of cash to the laundromat, where the unidentified suspect was arrested. Police found the gun that was believed to have been used in the robbery in a dryer.
Startled customers said the man seemed suspicious as he made his way through the laundromat.
"He went in there, ran around the side, saw me, turned around and ran back toward the bathroom, stripped his shirt off and walked out like he was a customer in the laundromat," said witness Michael Gove.
A LITTLE LAUGH:
Since he runs a pawnshop, I decided to ask a friend of mine to appraise my grandfather's violin. "Old fiddles aren't worth much, I'm afraid," he explained.
"What makes it a fiddle and not a violin?" I asked. "If you're buying it from me, it's a violin. If I'm buying it from you, it's a fiddle."
