Today’s Thoughts
Sunshine
with a little smoke. Good day. No moisture expected.
On
Tuesday I went to my PCP about my allergies. I was sent to the emergency room
for breathing treatments as my O2 level was low. I spent the night in an ER
room getting O2 treatments. All good, I have a rhino virus, very common, not
usually this severe. Home and enjoying myself now. Still a little congested but
taking pills for that. I’m going to miss our discussion group on Saturday. I
don’t want to infect anybody.
I’m
sure glad that the Canadian wildfires aren’t near me. I really shouldn’t
complain about our smoke, compared to what NYC and other areas are suffering.
In all my time here since retirement I can’t remember a time when I couldn’t
see the nearby mountain for more than an hour or two from smoke. The cities
like NY are experiencing their second day.
Enjoy
History revisited
Cleopatra
Was Born Closer To The Television Series Friends Than The Great Pyramids Of
Giza
Cleopatra
was born in 69 BC and was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of
Egypt. After being defeated by Octavian at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC, Cleopatra
and her lover took their own lives in 30 BC, which was a little more than 2,000
years ago.
The
Pyramids of Giza were completed in 2560 BC, making them more than 2,500 years
older than Cleopatra. So, in the grand scheme of things, Cleopatra was alive
closer to the premiere of Friends in 1994 than the Pyramids of Giza that she
once ruled over.
The
Harry Potter series began back in 1997 with the publication of Harry Potter and
the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling. The seventh and final installment in
the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was finally released on July
21, 2007.
However,
this wasn't the only major cultural phenomenon to occur that year. Almost
exactly a month before, on June 29, 2007, Apple unveiled the iPhone, the first
smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc.
