My
Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Sure
hope everyone enjoyed Easter. Mine is going well.
This
is a season of rebirth. I hope that the religious wars are stopped. It is so sad
to see people dying in the name of any deity.
I
am still thinking of a retort to the owner of my townhouse regarding the new
rules & regulations. I should not come off as a whiner and still make a point.
I
wish the judge and the politicians in trouble with the law would just let the
process work itself out. Some of them are just digging a deeper hole.
Enjoy…
Facts…
While dream
interpretation may not be accurate, it is certainly not new. The Beatty
Papyrus, written around 1350 B.C. and discovered at Thebes, is the oldest dream
dictionary existing today. It describes special dream-interpreting priests
called 'Masters of the Secret Things' or 'Learned Ones of the Magic Library.'
Common
themes occurring in different types of dreams include Animals, Anxiety,
Authority, Bad Dreams and Nightmares, Being Lost Dreams, Buildings, Colors,
Danger, Flying, Houses and Home, Places, Money, Sex, Scenery, Wars, Weather and
Work.
More Slang
origins…
Can’t Never Could
Although this phrase is filled with
negatives, it’s actually an example of positive thinking. This is like saying
“you can’t get anything done without a positive attitude.” Or in other words,
if you’re thinking about all the things you can’t do, you won’t be able to
achieve much.
Southerners summed up this sentiment
beautifully with the phrase: “Can’t never could!”
Beauty in
our 50 states…
Taken on their own, the Upper
or Lower Peninsulas could have ranked in the upper tiers of this list. Combine
them, and you get 3,288 miles of pure Michigan coast, and the most beautiful
state east of the Mississippi River. And that's saying a lot for a Midwestern
state—just look at how Michigan's neighbors fared. From the unspoiled
forests of the UP to the sandy beaches
of Lake Michigan to the craggy coast of Lake Huron, and the more
than 11,000 inland
lakes between, you could spend years exploring Michigan, and never reach
the end of those good waters.
