How many can you identify?…answers in Today’s Birthdays
Free Rambling Thoughts:
A chilly ‘holiday’ Monday.Slowly, very slowly, the election results are being published for our two largest and slowest counties. One Congressional race is still in question. Lots of finger pointing that all boils down to our complicated voting system with early ballots and provisional ballots. Anything it seems to make the voting process more difficult for many.Alert! If you are going to do something wrong…don’t use any e-mail service to discuss it. Seems logical but so many high profile people just don’t get it.I don’t know if this is an OMG story or a WTF story: today twenty states filed citizen driven petitions to President Obama to ‘peacefully secede’ from the US. Thankfully, AZ is not in the list but Colorado is. It doesn’t really mean anything legal, but sure is crazy. Turns out similar things happened after the 2004 and 2008 elections.

Unusual Uses for Everyday Things: Mayonnaise
- Just dab a little onto the dull key and leave it for five minutes or so. Then wipe off the mayo, and buff with a different cloth until the ivory shines.
- Mayonnaise has some delightfully emollient qualities. It’ll soften and smooth hair for a sleek and chic look that can go straight from the runway to the kitchen.
- Apply a little mayo to problem areas like the elbows, knees, or your face. Leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes, then buff off with a damp towel or washcloth. Then use your normal moisturizer or lotion to lock in the freshness.
- Rub a little bit of mayo onto the crayon mark and let it sit for five to ten minutes. Then watch it magically disappear when you wipe it away with a damp cloth.
- Try dipping your nails into a mayo bath. Soak your nails, cuticles, and the rest of your fingertip in some mayonnaise. Then rinse. Voila! Stronger nails. You'll be opening bottles and clamshell packaging bare-handed from now on.
- Removing tar, sap, and sticker residue…Cover the mess with some mayonnaise and let it sit for several minutes. Then wipe it off with a soft, vehicle-approved cloth
- If your wooden furniture is covered in water rings, try to buff them out with some mayonnaise.
- Rub a little bit of mayo onto your matte and dull leaf. Buff it to a shine, then you'll have the shiniest ficus leaf in the world.
Old Saying Explained:
CROCODILE TEARS…These are an insincere display of grief or sadness. It comes from the old belief that a crocodile wept (insincerely!) if it killed and ate a man.

Unusual Fact of the Day:
Charles Lindbergh was named Time magazine’s first “Man of the Year” in 1927. But what turned into an annual tradition for the publication actually started as an apology: Time had embarrassingly left Lindbergh off the cover after his landmark solo flight and "Man of the Year" was their apology.Found on You Tube:
Joke-of-the-day:
After 17 years of marriage, a man dumped his wife for a younger woman. The downtown luxury apartment was in his name and he wanted to remain there with his new love so he asked the wife to move out and then he would buy her another place. The wife agreed to this, but asked that she be given 3 days on her own there to pack up her things. While he was gone the first day, she lovingly put her personal belongings into boxes and crates and suitcases. On the second day she had the movers come and collect her things. On the third day she sat down for the last time at their candlelit dining table, soft music playing in the background, and feasted on a pound of shrimp and a bottle of chardonnay. When she had finished, she went into each room and deposited a few of the resulting shrimp shells into the hollow of the curtain rods. She then cleaned up the kitchen and left. The husband came back with his new girl and all was bliss for the first few days. Then it started, slowly but surely. Clueless, the man could not explain why the place smelled so bad. They tried everything; cleaned and mopped and aired the place out. Vents were checked for dead rodents, carpets were steam cleaned, air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in, the carpets were replaced, and on it went. Finally, they could take it no more and decided to move. The moving company arrived and did a very professional packing job, taking everything to their new home...including the curtain rods.

Yeah, It Really Happened
On November 17 Jennifer Hoffman and Marisa Gallegos, founders of Esme & Eve Photography, along with five other brave women, plan to jump from an airplane near Lake Elsinore, California, wearing nothing but parachutes and their lingerie. The jump is part of Esme & Eve's "Be Bold. Take the Leap" initiative, in which they urge women "to face their fears, take a risk and push against whatever is holding them back from carrying out their dreams."This will be the second skydive Hoffman and Gallegos are taking together, and this time around, they wanted to do it on a larger scale by inviting others to join. Gallegos admitted, however, that the idea to skydive in nothing but their skivvies was never part of their original plan. When the pair arrived at the skydive location for their first jump last May, it was more than 100 degrees outside. Neither of the women was particularly excited about putting on the heavy, bulky jumpsuits, so they decided to go without."When we landed, it just hit us how powerful the experience was," Gallegos said. "We needed to come back and do it in a big way with a bunch of other women that have all faced certain fears and insecurities and moved past them. It's all about empowering them. Life is about evolving and moving past things so we can move forward."They thought it was best to do the jump in their underwear because "it was more about baring your soul, and being OK with it, and not being ashamed," Hoffman said.
Somewhat Useless Information
- The rockets mentioned in "The Star Spangled Banner" were less effective than bombs. They had a shorter range and were so inaccurate that they had to be abandoned as weapons after the War of 1812. Not until World War II did rockets become important.
- The Pentagon is the world's largest office building, a city in itself. With an area of 6,500,00 square feet the Pentagon has a Main Street lined with shops, restaurants and its own post office.
