My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Another nice summer day. Ready for the Labor Day Weekend.

I have a small USB hub that plugs into an outlet. It is downstairs so I can charge my phone and iPad. It also has ports so others can charge their stuff. The old one quit working, so I checked online. Targe’ had just what I needed and at a good price. I hadn’t been there since the pandemic started. They were very helpful. I need to visit there more often.

When I got home, the HOA had a notice on my door. They will be repaving the parking lot and repainting the parking lines next week. Glad they are on top of this.

Gov. Abbott [R-TX] started sending to illegal immigrants from Texas to NYC and Washington DC. He made headlines with his plan to notify these places of the immigration problems in Texas. Yesterday he added Chicago to the immigrant’s destination list. I get his thinking, but feel concerned about immigrants, many who have never been to a large city anywhere.

Biden’s speech last night left us all with a lot to think about. I wish he could have been more concise, but his heart is in the right place.

Moon Facts…

The Moon Is a Dry, Barren Wasteland

Until recently, it was thought by many scientists that the moon was dry. While Apollo scientists’ theory that it was possible that ice could exist on the far side of the moon, no water had been detected on the surface, in the atmosphere, or in the interior of the moon.

That all changed in 2009 when water was discovered in trace amounts. Then, in 2010, it was uncovered that it has a “hundred times” more water than previously thought. Eight years later, it was discovered that ice was actually at the moon’s poles, mimicking Earth, and there was, in fact, water in the interior.

This revelation has changed much of what we know about the moon. With its whole history up ended, this has lead to a list of possible theories like did the moon give Earth its water? Did the moon once have life? Or, perhaps, is there still? These questions haven’t been answered yet but could be soon.

Marie-Antoinette is believed to have said this to peasants who complained about increasing bread prices. The statement appears in The Confessions, by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, but the writer never attributed it to Louis XVI’s wife. The work was written between 1765 and 1770, so the “great princess” to whom Rousseau credits these words could not be the Queen of Austria as she was only 10 to 15 years old at the time.
