Thoughts for the day
Sunshine has finally returned to our little mountain town. Nice!
There is now the first Pope born and raised in America, Chicago. Pope Leo
XIV now leads 1.4 billion Catholics around the world.
The problems at the NJ airport started in 2024 and maybe even before
that. Pete Buttigieg better have a lot of answers.
Now Trump wants undocumented sent to Libya, a Muslim state. This man must
be stopped.
AZ’s very own losing politician who now heads an agency announced that OAN
[One America Network] will now provide the Voice of America with the news. OAN
is a far-right news producer that still believes the 2020 election was stolen
from Trump. FYI: OAN does not speak for me.
Native American Tribes That Dominated History
Cherokee © Yale University Press
The Cherokee of the Southeastern Woodlands were adaptive and
strategic in their interactions with European settlers. They adopted certain
European customs while maintaining a robust centralized governance structure.
Their political acumen was evident in their diplomatic
engagements and legal frameworks designed to protect their autonomy. The
Cherokee were adept at forming alliances that balanced power dynamics in their
favor.
Their resilience was tested during forced relocations, yet
they persevered and rebuilt their communities. The Cherokee continue to be
known for their cultural contributions and efforts to preserve their heritage
amidst changing landscapes.
Random Thoughts…
A Roman walks into a bar and asks for a Martinus. “You mean a martini?”
the bartender asks. The Roman replied, “If I wanted a double, I would have
asked for it!”
When I buy a pizza, it comes in a sturdy corrugated box. When I buy a cake, it comes in a flimsy box that tries to kill the cake.
The number 14233221 describes itself; it has one four, two threes, three twos, and two ones.
A group of Raccoons is called a Gaze.
Misunderstood History…
Paul Revere Didn’t Shout, “The British Are Coming!” ©wikimedia
The famous midnight ride wasn’t a solo mission—Revere was
part of a network of riders. He also wouldn’t have shouted to avoid alerting
British patrols.
Colonists still saw themselves as British, so he likely said
"Redcoats" or "Regulars" instead. The dramatic version we
know comes from Longfellow’s poem, not history.
