Thoughts for the day
A nice winter day with very little
breeze. Yesterday’s wind is gone.
I’m hoping for and planning for a nice
week. Only a Dr. appointment for Friday.
A Rez friend and his family stopped by
this morning. He just got a job in Phoenix and his family is taking him down
there. Nice visit.
Inventions…
Frederick McKinley Jones - Refrigerated Trucks
Frederick Jones invented the first automatic refrigeration
system for long-haul trucks in 1935. His portable cooling unit could be mounted
on trucks and trains, allowing fresh food to be transported over long distances
without spoiling. This invention made it possible to ship fresh food across the
country and helped create the frozen food industry. Jones’ technology saved
countless lives during World War II by preserving blood, medicine, and food for
soldiers.
Random Thoughts…

Dress well even for the small things- If you look good, you’ll feel good. Feel good,
you’ll do well. Do well, you’ll succeed.

Origin of city nicknames…
Boise, Idaho: ‘City of Trees’
“Voyez les bois!” (See the
woods!) cried the ecstatic French explorer Captain Bonneville when he spotted
the tree-lined Boise River after a long, barren trek. Most Boise residents are
familiar with this anecdotal explanation for how their city gained its
nickname, but it might not be 100% correct. Others think it stemmed from French
Canadian fur trappers active in the 1820s who named the tree-lined river that
gave them relief from the hot, dry plains of southern Idaho ‘la riviere boisee’
(or ‘The Wooded River’). Whatever the true origin, it seems to fit.
