that was in the shadows is gone. A nice fall day.
I
changed the linens and did 2 loads of laundry this morning.
In
my part of Arizona, sunrise and sunset just changed by about a minute. For
those of you who live in a DST state, you just have to adjust to the abrupt
changes.
I
have been watching CNBC’s The News with Shephard Smith every weekday for
about 2 years. It was the news minus the commentary. This last week CNBC
announced that his show was cancelled but gave him a nice farewell saying the
broadcast would end at the end of this month. Then yesterday they announced it
was effective the day of their first announcement. I’m disappointed. The memo
says it was due to ratings, but he has doubled the number of viewers. It must
be something else. I’m awaiting the common conspiracy theories because Shep
hasn’t made a statement.
My
alma mater, CU is playing Oregon on TV.
The Buffs are losing on the 3rdQ but still nice to see them play.
Good
news: The Smithsonian has named sites for two new museums in DC…National Museum
of the American Latino and American Women’s History Museum. Nice!

"Eruption" by Van Halen (1978)

plague. It was used to express a desire for your soul to remain in your body,
because the Black Death could take it.

1789 – Pope Pius VI appointed Father John
Carroll as the first Catholic bishop in the United States. He is also known as
the founder of Georgetown University.
1860 – Abraham Lincoln (R-Ill) was
elected 16th American President. His election prompted seven southern slave
states to form the Confederacy before he took the office.
1861 – Jefferson Davis was elected to a
6-year term as Confederate president. After the war was over, Davis was
captured and he was accused of treason but was not tried and was released after
two years.
1862 – The direct telegraphic link
between New York and San Francisco was established.
1947 – Meet the Press was first televised
as a local program in Washington DC. Meet the Press began on radio in 1945 as
American Mercury Presents: Meet the Press.
1962 – The United Nations General
Assembly passed a resolution condemning South Africa’s apartheid policies and
called for all UN member states to cease military and economic relations with
the nation.
1965 – Cuba and the United States
formally agreed to begin an airlift for Cubans who want to go to the United
States.
