My Rambling Thoughts
So I had some errands to run this morning. Knowing that NAU was
the site for both high school graduations today, I really wanted to start early
to miss the traffic around 11a. So I get to Target about 9a—plenty of time.
Then I ran into a nurse from TC and we chatted, around another corner and a
friend from Public school in Tuba and we chatted. Then around another corner
and a guy is staring at me. Finally he asks me how I’m doing. Turns out to be a
student from my first class at Shonto, back in 1971. Hadn’t seen him since my
time at Navajo Mountain in 1985. We chatted a long time. Turns out his dad, now
96, was one of the Code Talkers. His family didn’t even know until 1986 when
the whole thing was declassified. Anyway all my student’s kids work in Phoenix
and he and his wife work at the Power plant in Page. So nice to catch up.
Finished up at Target and headed for Sprouts. Got my good food and hit the
road, about 5 minutes after the traffic was leaving NAU. Traffic took twice as
long to get home as everyone getting on I-40 were headed to the East side. Got home about 11:45. Anyway, it was all
good. Got home, turned on the TV…nada. Just a message that the channel would
return soon. Checked again at 2p and still no TV. Called the cable company and
heard the message ‘we are not accepting calls at this time.’ That is never a
good sign. At 3p I called again and the new message said that there was an
outage since 10a in the Flagstaff area and that the techs were working hard to
have it back on by 4:30p. Oh, well.

President Bush thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.
Billy was delighted with the $5.00 and sat down to write a thank you note to
God, which read:

Really Happened
NYC - Now
here's a brain teaser if I ever heard one. Nine brains inexplicably appeared
earlier this week along a street in a village in New York. How the brains got
there and where they came from remains a mystery.
Residents discovered the brains on a Street in Gouverneur and called the
police. Gouverneur police collected one of the brains and brought it to a local
veterinarian for an examination. The veterinarian determined the brain had been
professionally removed -- likely from a dog -- and preserved in formaldehyde.
The veterinarian said that the brain was consistent with a beagle-sized brain
and was in very good condition with no damage.
But a chemistry professor at Clarkson University argued the specimen was
possibly from a sheep, not a dog.
No brain labeled Hans Delbruck was found, but there was an Abbey...someone.
Regardless, police told local news outlets there was little to fear. The nine
brains are believed to have been part of a collection for educational or
research purposes and no criminal activity, other than littering, is suspected.
