Thoughts for the day

The weather man was right…it is very windy today.

I have one doctor who has a very unfriendly receptionist. She called a couple of weeks ago to set up my blood draw and remind me of my appointment next week. I reminded her to have the blood draw say ‘ultrasound guided.’ When I got the paperwork there was also a paper to scan my kidneys. I fixed the blood draw paper and set up my kidney scan appointment. On Friday I drank 28oz. of water one hour before my appointment. That’s a lot of H2O in a short time. I made it to the scan without needing to pee. I checked in and after 15 minutes the lady came out and says the dates were for July and had already been done. They called the Dr.’s Office and they said I didn’t need the scan at this time. I used to restroom and felt much better. They were very apologetic, but I said they did nothing wrong. My Dr. and I will discuss this at my visit next week.

Last night I made my Dad’s recipe for homemade chili. Always good.

Mike Johnson kept his Speakership. After not calling the first vote for over an hour, enough changed so he can say he won on the first ballot.

Biden stopped the US Steel and buyout be Nippon Steel. He said it was for National Security but looks more like politics. Time will tell.

I watched Biden distribute 19 Medals of Freedom today. He looked good and spoke well. The ceremony was very moving.

Inventions…

Joseph Lee - Bread Machine

Joseph Lee invented an automatic bread crumber in 1895 that could break day-old bread into perfectly sized crumbs. He later created a bread-kneading machine that could mix and knead dough better than human hands. His machines helped bakeries increase production and reduce waste significantly. Lee’s inventions revolutionized the baking industry and are still influencing commercial bread production today.

Random Thoughts…

Hating your partner’s ex’s or past experiences has a name- Retroactive Jealousy

When converting numbers to words, the commas stay in the same position e.g. 1,234,567 = one million, two hundred and thirty-four thousand, five hundred and sixty-seven.

Wal-Mart loses about $3 billion every year from theft or 1% of its $300 billion in revenue.

Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards.

Pirate walks into a bar, bartender says, “Hey, did you know there’s a bounty on your head?” Pirate replies, “No, that’s just a napkin.”

The necktie evolved from a type of scarf worn by Croatian soldiers in the early 17th century.

VW has more syllables than Volkswagen.

Origin of city nicknames…NEW

Memphis, Tennessee: ‘Home of the Blues’

The true ‘Home of the Blues’ is hard to pinpoint, but Memphis can make as good a claim as any to the title. Certainly, it was here that W.C. Handy wrote The Memphis Blues in 1912, which some consider to be the first blues song, and the city has remained synonymous with the style ever since. Beale Street is lined with bars where iconic artists such as B.B. King, Memphis Minnie and Muddy Waters have all played, and Beale itself was declared ‘Home of the Blues’ by an act of Congress in 1977.
