My
Rambling Thoughts
So impressed with FB. Every so often, someone from my past pops up
with a message. I met a San Carlos friend when I was in graduate school. He was
just starting his Masters, I was finishing up mine. He had been a teacher at
Phx Indian School, married and had two little kids. We were both going to
summer school every summer and always seemed to spend time together. He went
off on his way, me on mine. A few years later he returned to NAU for his
doctorate. He called me and for two years I was able to stay at his apartment
on campus on weekends, as every weekend he and his sons went back to San Carlos
to his wife. A few years after his doctorate he lost a son in a tragic accident.
I went to San Carlos for the wake and funeral. Another time I went down there
for a bow hunt. I had heard that he retired from his superintendent position
but couldn’t find him anywhere. A couple of days ago he posted on my FB page.
He uses a different name on FB due to his position. Anyway we chatted for a
little while and told him to call me sometime. He called last night and we
caught up…took about 90 minutes. Very cool.
We have a lot of clouds, but no rain yesterday or today…but it
looks like when it cools off a little, the rain will fall again. Really enjoy
the monsoon.

Interesting
facts about Islam…
Terrorism, unjustified violence and the killing of innocent people
are absolutely forbidden in Islam. Islam is a way of life that is meant to
bring peace to a society, whether its people are Muslim or not. The extreme
actions of those who claim to be Muslim may be, among other things, a result of
their ignorance or uncontrolled anger. Tyrant rulers and those who commit acts
of terrorism in the name of Islam are simply not following Islam. These people
are individuals with their own views and political agendas. Fanatical Muslims
are no more representative of the true Islamic teachings than Timothy McVeigh
or David Koresh are of Christianity. Extremism and fanaticism is a problem that
is common to all religious groups. Anyone who thinks that all Muslims are
terrorists should remember that the famous boxer Muhammad Ali, perhaps the most
celebrated person of our era, is a practicing Muslim.

Native Humor…
Fairly old joke from the Rez
When NASA was preparing for the Apollo project,
they did some astronaut training on a Navajo Indian reservation. One day, a
Navajo elder and his son were herding sheep and came across the space crew. The
old man, who only spoke Navajo, asked a question, which the son translated:
"What are the guys in the big suits doing?" A member of the crew said
they were practicing for their trip to the moon.
The old man got really excited and asked if he
could send a message to the moon with the astronauts. Recognizing a promotional
opportunity for the spin-doctors, the NASA folks found a tape recorder. After
the old man recorded his message, they asked the son to translate. He refused.
So the NASA reps brought the tape to the reservation, where the rest of the
tribe listened and laughed, but refused to translate the elder's message to the
moon. Finally, NASA called in an official government translator. He reported that the moon message said: "Watch out for these guys; they've come to steal your land."

Joke-of-the-day

Curios, a man

OCONEE COUNTY, Fla. (UPI) - A Georgia man who appeared to be
"highly intoxicated" was arrested after allegedly telling an Oconee
County officer that his dog drove him to the store so that he could purchase
corn. According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Sgt.
Partain responded to a call about a dog in a hot car. When Partain arrived on
the scene, he encountered a canine in a locked vehicle that had a temperature
which clocked in at 123 degrees when measured with a handheld thermometer.
Partain also saw a can of gasoline inside the vehicle and said the smell was
stifling. The car's driver, Wesley Terrell, allegedly told Partain that
"the dog drove him to Bell's to buy some corn." The 60-year-old
suspect was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and driving under the
influence. Animal control took the dog into custody.
Somewhat
Useless Information
Has
it ever happened to you to enter a room and forget why you are there?
There
is a not life threatening phenomenon called, “event boundary” which is
responsible for this memory gap.According to an experiment by the scientist Gabriel Radvansky, our brains compartmentalize events and tie them to the environment, or room, in which they occurred. By moving from one room to the next, the brain effectively creates a file containing all the information about the first room, and what you did there, and tucks it away.

sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is
