My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Another nice fall day.

Started the day with a regular eye exam. Got a new script for glasses. I’ve had these for more than 5 years, so it was time for new glasses.

Then I made reservations for Mexico. I’ll be there Nov 19-28 to see my brother and his wife and all the puppies. Prices and nit-picky pricing continue. Total to the airline was just over $1000, including seat selection @$89. Crazy! I’ll do the shuttle a little later. Looking forward to a great visit…in place of going at Christmas.

Congrats to Aaron Judge for setting the homerun records for the American League. Quite the feat for sure.

Not a lot to write about, since my eyes are still a little dialated.

Toasting with Water

Clinking glasses with water in your cup has been bad karma since the ancient Greeks who only toasted with water to honor the dead. The idea started with the myth that the dead drank from the River Lethe in the Underworld to leave behind their corporeal lives. This toasting tradition evolved over time into a superstition that you are wishing bad luck (or death) upon someone when you give cheers with water in your glass.
