My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

It’s a cloudy and stormy day. Kinda unusual for our Mountain town.

Turns out it was very unusual…at 1pm a tornado did damage to several homes just outside Williams…about 30 miles W of Flagstaff. At the same time Flag got a ‘Severe Thunderstorm Warning’ until 3pm. A good day to be home.

Football scores were a mixed bag yesterday. Cards won by 10 and Broncos lost. There were some good plays.

Sad news: Sacheen Littlefeather [Marie Louise Cruz] (White Mountain Apache/Yaqui &I European) died at 75 from breast cancer. She was the lady who refused Brando’s Oscar in 1973. I was big news in Indian Country back then. She remained an activist the remainder of her life.

The Supreme Court begins its new session today. Right now, their approval rating is similar to during the depression era. FDR pulled our country together. I’m hoping they clearly remove politics from their agenda and our country becomes less divided.

My brother called this morning from NYC. We had a nice video call. I’ll be booking flights for a little over a week stay around Thanksgiving. Mexico is very nice at that time. Laura’s parents will be there too. Should be a nice early Christmas celebration.

Superstitions

Finding a Penny

Most people wouldn’t consider a single cent on the ground to be good fortune, but back in ancient times it was quite the find. Old civilizations believed that find any metal on the ground was a gift from the gods. Some people believe holding onto the penny will bring good luck and others think the good luck comes when you give the penny away. Either way, that’s a lot value to place on one penny.
