Hmmm. I hardly ever get sick. And I am not sick today, but something in my intestines is not working right. Long story short, I’m not at 100%.
One of my friends gets food from St Mary’s Food Bank here in Flagstaff. She doesn’t have a car, so today I told her I would take her over there. An interesting experience. Cars line up about an hour before they open. Then one by one the cars drive up, show the appropriate paperwork, and volunteers load stuff into the vehicle. [We got there about 10:30 and were car number 10. When we left about 11:30, there were at least 20 cars behind us.] What amazed me was the amount of interesting items. She got two plastic containers of corn—each holding about 2 gallons of cooked corn. Without a large freezer, this will be hard to eat. She also got two chocolate Bundt cakes, and two large one layer chocolate cakes. There was good stuff too, but I just don’t understand the value of giving these large amounts to an ‘elderly’ and a ‘child’. She and her granddaughter were happy, and I didn’t feel like asking a lot of questions.

MOSCOW – Residents of the area surrounding Moscow said a proposal by the city’s mayor to keep snow out of the city has raised concerns about flooding. Mayor Yuri Luzhkov said cloud-seeding technology could be used to keep snow out of Moscow for only one-third of the annual cost of snowplows and other removal operations, The Times of London reported.
Luzhkov said the technology is already used to ensure sunny days for special occasions, including the annual parade celebrating victory in World War II. “Why don’t we keep this snow outside the Moscow city limits?” the mayor said.
“For the countryside, this means more moisture and bigger harvests. And for us, less snow.” However, residents in outlying regions raised concerns that preventing snow from falling on Moscow could cause flooding in their areas. “On those holidays when they clear the clouds over Moscow the surplus precipitation becomes a problem for us,” said Vladimir Litvishkov, a land management official near the city.
