Thoughts for the day

A few clouds with chilly temperatures.

CU Buffs beat Utah on Saturday.

The Cards have a bye and Broncos play Falcons this afternoon.

I did some cleaning and dusting this morning, a little to chilly to be outside.

I’m trying hard to stay in a ‘wait and see’ mode on Trump’s appointments. It won’t be until January to find out how it works out. No need to ruin 2 months being upset.

Myths

Myth #22: The Truth About Chloroform

Ever dreamed of chloroform as a miraculous ticket to dreamland, inspired by its dramatic appearances in countless films? Well, it’s high time to rouse from that slumber! Contrary to the make-believe world of cinema, a mere whiff of chloroform won’t whisk you away into an extended nap in the blink of an eye.

In reality, it takes a good couple of minutes for its effects to kick in, and the resulting stupor is fleeting at best. What’s more, reckless use of chloroform can spell trouble, leading to serious health consequences or even a tragic outcome.

Ancient Times…NEW

Random Thoughts…

The Aurora Ice Hotel in Alaska was made entirely of ice. Ice walls, ceiling, beds, bar, barstools, even martini glasses were made of ice. It was closed by the fire marshall for not having smoke detectors.

A group of Polecats is called a Chine.

A study published in the American Journal of Physics confirmed a mathematician’s model suggesting that straight hair is more likely to tangle than curly hair.

Ancient Roman Life

People living in Rome believed in magic and witchcraft

It is unsurprising that witchcraft has been a dominant force in Europe for centuries. The fact that Romans believed in the supernatural was also a factor. Many spells can be used to affect daily life. One was to keep people still. It involved three incense sticks placed at the mousehole’s entrance before attaching an enchanted thread of dark lead.

The next step was to place seven beans in the mouth of someone, then sew a fish’s head with a bronze needle and roast it. To make the spell work, the spellcaster needed to eat the fish head and drink an adult beverage. Many spells could be used against your enemies. Many of them used magical gemstones.
