Happy Father’s Day! Thinking of my great dad and all he did for our family. Great man. Missed.

 

Strange Saturday….clouded up, stayed cooler than the fast few days…in the afternoon could smell rain…but alas, none made it to the ground. Sure was nice to at least smell the rain.

 

I read and learned more than I ever wanted to on the Euro. Tonight’s discussion should help me understand a little more about what I read. This is one of those topics where I read and after a few paragraphs is blah, blah, blah. Then a new article, a few paragraphs and more blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, It Really Happened

DELTONA, Fla. - Authorities in Florida said they arrested a man accused of stabbing his brother during an argument about macaroni-and-cheese and beer. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said a witness told deputies Randy Zipperer, 49, became upset Tuesday at his Deltona home when he was unable to find his macaroni-and-cheese, so his 47-year-old brother helped him search for the food, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported Thursday. Zipperer's beer was accidentally knocked over by his brother during the search, leading the two men to argue, deputies said. Zipperer allegedly stabbed his brother in the stomach with a kitchen knife during the argument, causing a small puncture wound. Zipperer was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and obstructing an officer without violence.

• In 1945 a computer at Harvard malfunctioned and Grace Hopper, who was working on the computer, investigated, found a moth in one of the circuits and removed it. Ever since, when something goes wrong with a computer, it is said to have a bug in it.

• In the 19th century, craftsmen who made hats were known to be excitable and irrational, as well as to tremble with palsy and mix up their words. Such behavior gave rise to the familiar expression "mad as a hatter". The disorder, called hatter's shakes, was caused by chronic mercury poisoning from the solution used to treat the felt. Attacking the central nervous system, the toxin led to behavioral symptoms.

• In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.
