Thoughts for the day

No controlled burns nearby so it’s a nice day to be outside.

The Dine’ College Student Union Building burned in the early morning hours yesterday. The Tsaile Main Campus is closed. Investigation as to the start of the fire continues today.

Trump was on a hot mic when he suggested he would sent US citizens who commit horrific crimes to horrific prisons in El Salvador. Frightening.

In retaliation to the tariffs,  China has stopped imports of US Beef, costing ranchers billions, and will now buy beef from Australia.

Ancient Civilizations Few Have Heard Of…

The Hittites: Anatolia, Turkey©Koppas on Wikimedia

The Hittites ruled Anatolia in 1600 BCE, creating an empire that rivaled Egypt. With advanced ironworking and chariot warfare, they controlled vast territories. Their legal systems even influenced later civilizations. Still, their empire vanished mysteriously. What happened to them? History has its secrets.

Random Thoughts…

A group of Sharks is called a Shiver or School or Shoal.

The female equivalent of a “dude” is a “dudine,” not a “dudette.” #really?

Based on the number of times I’ve failed those captcha tests, I’m not entirely convinced that I’m not a robot.

Taught in High School but not true…

George Washington chopped down a cherry tree ©Photo Credit: Becca Eley/Shutterstock

6-year-old George Washington said, “I cannot tell a lie”, when he confessed to chopping down his father’s cherry tree. Well, the lie detector has determined that the whole story is a lie! This myth was propagated by Washington’s first biographer, Mason Locke Weems. Oh, and his teeth were dentures, but not made out of wood. Washington’s dentures contained real teeth, probably from cows and horses and definitely from people, as well as ivory, gold, and lead. Brush your teeth; that is not a myth.
