\My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
The Tunnel
Fire is over 21,000 acres, still at 3% containment, but the good news is many
evacuated area can be re-entered with proper credentials and US Highway 89 is
opening again. This is good news. A lady has run a horse rescue since 2011. She
safely evacuated all 21 horses and other small animals. The horses and chickens
are very traumatized. Sadly, all her hay [enough for 3 months] and all her
buildings were destroyed by the fire. The USPS, FedEx, and UPS have been
holding mail for the evacuated residents. It can be picked up starting Monday.
The
nonprofit America Waterways has designated the Colorado River as the
most endangered waterway in the US. The designation came due to the drought,
climate change, outdated river management and over allocation of the river’s
water. This is very disappointing for sure.
