Thoughts for the day
The latest storm has arrived. So far,
it’s on and off rain and snow.
Andy, Faith, and I had lunch at Chili’s
today. Conversation was great, food was great, paying was a whole new world. We
have always used those little pay machines that are at the table. After choosing
what I was paying for, it wouldn’t take my card. Then Faith tried, and it didn’t
like her card either. Our waitress came and tried. Wouldn’t work for her, so
she unplugged it, and said she would be back after it rebooted. That didn’t
work either. I finally asked if she could just run it herself up front. She
said she needed the Manager to do it. She took our cards and headed off. She
came back to take orders at 3 different tables while the world stopped to wait
for the manager. After 10 minutes of waiting, I caught another server and said
I needed to see the manager right away. He called her on his personal mic. The
waitress returned with our receipts, and I told the other guy, I’ll wait for
the manager. She came, I explained the payment issue, she apologized and said
give me a minute more. She came right back with $20 in gift certificates and
apologized again. Good deal. We’ll be back.
