It’s been a busy news day: 1. And the oil continues to flow into the Gulf. I heard today that head of BP just ordered the 1st season DVD of McGyver. Until this order went through, BP has been sending all their research people to the new movie MacGruber—the SNL satire. 2. Obama said he is getting all the information possible on the spill so he will be pissed off at the right people. 3. Steve Jobs announced today the new iPhone and you can have an ‘oil spill’ app for that as soon as someone figures out what to do. 4. BP has paid money to Google and Yahoo so that any ‘oil spill’ related search will list their website in the first 5 to 10 results—not the ads at the top for ‘sponsored links’, but in the actual results. 5. A group of environmental scientists have said that it would be better to euthanize the oiled pelicans, rather than trying to clean them. Why? Because even though they are being taken from LA wetlands and islands, cleaned, and released in eastern Florida, the adults will find their back to their nesting areas and be re-oiled. 6. Helen Thomas has been forced to retire at 89 years old for comments that Israelis should give back Palestinian land and then move back to Europe and America. [I met Ms Thomas back in the 70’s at a small meeting with Pat Nixon while I was in college. She was a firecracker back then, and still seems to be one. She has been sitting in the front row of White House press conferences since JFK.]
It was much cooler today—only 84° on my deck. This was a great relief. It’s amazing how a few degrees makes so much difference. I got my vehicle washed and cleaned up. I was able to take a walk while it was still in the low 70’s. Good day. I want more days like this, and no more days like the past few.
» Puzzle 1
General Custer is surrounded by Indians and he's the only cowboy left.
He finds an old lamp in front of him and rubs it. Out pops a genie. The genie grants Custer one wish, with a catch. He says, "Whatever you wish for, each Indian will get two of the same thing."
Custer ponders a while and thinks:"If I get a bow and arrow they get two. If I get a rifle they get two!" He then rubs the bottle again and out pops the genie. "Well," the genie asks "have you made up your mind?"
What did Custer ask for to help him get away?

When I was a child, I remember my Mom telling me, "Son, when you grow up, you can marry any girl you please."
When I became a young man, I learned the sad fact was that I could not please any of them.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. - A North Carolina grocery store's highway billboard for a new line of beef is drawing the attention of commuters by radiating the smell of grilling steak. The Mooresville billboard for Bloom grocery stores is wafting the scent of steak along River Highway, using a system created by ScentAir of Charlotte, N.C. Bloom spokeswoman Christy Phillips-Brown said the sign is scheduled to emit the scent every day from 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. until June 18. ScentAir marketing director Murray Dameron said the project represents the first roadside advertisement for the custom-scent company, which has designed fragrances and delivery systems for facilities including casinos and hotel lobbies. He said the steak smell is created using a high-powered fan that blows air over cartridges containing fragrance oil. "It's basically a blend of black pepper and kind of a charcoal grilling smell," Dameron said. "It smells like grilled meat with a nice pepper rub on it."

» PIC of the Day
I have always been fascinated with ‘sky’ pictures. While traveling I always try to take pictures of clouds, sunrise, sunset, panoramas with mostly sky. These pics are not mine, but it’s nice to learn that others are also fascinated by the sky. During the month of June I’ll be doing ‘sun rays’.
