Trivia
It's
fall, which means that everything 'pumpkin' is the thing. Pumpkin lattes,
pumpkin donuts, pumpkin scented candles... you name it! The word
pumpkin showed up for the first time in the fairy tale Cinderella. A French
explorer in 1584 first called them "gros melons," which translates
into Latin as "pepon," which means large melon. It wasn't until the
17th century that they were first referred to as pumpkins. |
My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
A nice fall
day. That means time for prescribed burns in our forest. I’m expecting some smoke
to settle in this afternoon and it will last through the night. A few days
ago, I checked on flights to Mexico at Christmas. I went back and checked
today and made the reservation. When I first flew there about 8 years ago, it
was around $500. Today it was $1001. Prices just keep going up and up. After
getting over the sticker shock, I went out to get a haircut. Quick and easy
from my favorite stylist. She and her husband are raising 2 grandkids. She
had some great stories and is really enjoying it. Today is
election day. I’ve learned over the years not to listen to polling, so
tomorrow we should have the results and learn to deal with them, whatever
they are. |
