A fairly uneventful day. I finished my Grand Canyon video but for some unknown reason, it won’t upload. It says it uploads, it says it is finished; it even says I can now view it…but alas the final screen says your video did not upload. I have no idea why. Tomorrow will be remaking the movie and basically going back to square two. Thankfully the project saved just fine.
I wore my Teva sandals all day. I haven’t worn them since I got back from the Grand Canyon trip as it was too uncomfortable—partly from the fungus, partly from some minor sunburn. Now all things have returned to normal. Life is good.
I have been recording True Blood this season, as I just don’t seem to have time to watch it. I watched the first two episodes of this season and am really getting into it…again. The writers seem to be able to have the most unbelievable plot twists and make them believable. I’ve learned that vampires and werewolves live ‘down south’ and so far not in Northern AZ, so I am safe at night.
I got a call from Greg, the owner of the Sandra. We are meeting Tuesday to start work on the brochure. I explained that I need to get some information before I can really put something together. He is more excited than I am, and I just hope my efforts are up to his standards. I need some history, some bio information, and some digital pictures. He likes the idea of giving it out at the end to the trip, as a thank you note to passengers. He would also be able to write a little personal note on part of the brochure. Sounds very cool. He is also going to be interviewed on a local station over the Memorial Day holiday and will give me information so I can call in to talk about my experience. That too sounds cool.

¬ The world's first artificial heart was made of Dacron. It was implanted into a patient by Dr. Denton Cooley in Houston, Texas, on April 4, 1969. Four days later it was rejected by the patient's body and the patient died.
¬ The insulin used to treat diabetes in human beings is taken from pigs and sheep. The substance produced in these animals is exactly the same as that found in the human body and has precisely the same sugar-stabilizing effect.
¬ The Rx sign used today on pharmaceutical prescriptions was originally an astrological sign for the planet Jupiter. The use of the sign originated in the Middle Ages, when doctors believed that the planets influenced health. Jupiter was thought to be the most powerful of all the heavenly bodies in curing disease.

ALLAHABAD, India - Guinness World Records said an Indian baby born with 10 toes on each foot and seven fingers on each hand is the new record holder for largest number of digits. Amrita Saxena of Uttar Pradesh said her 1-year-old son, Akshat Saxena, has undergone several surgeries since his birth to remove the extra digits, and doctors plan further procedures to give him thumbs, the Press Trust of India reported Tuesday. Saxena said her family contacted Guinness after learning about the previous record holder, a Chinese boy born with 15 fingers and 16 toes. Akshat's condition is a genetic disorder known as polydactyly, his family said.

Merv was in a terrible accident at work. He fell through a floor tile and ripped off both of his ears. Since he was permanently disfigured, he settled with the company for a rather large sum of money and went on his way. One day, Merv decided to invest his money in a small, but growing telecom business called Plexus Communications. After weeks of negotiations, he bought the company outright. But, after signing on the dotted line, he realized that he knew nothing about running such a business and quickly set out to hire someone who could do that for him.
The next day he had set up three interviews. The first guy was great. He knew everything he needed to and was very interesting. At the end of the interview, Merv asked him, "Do you notice anything different about me?" And the gentleman answered, "Why yes, I couldn't help but notice you have no ears." Merv got very angry and threw him out.
The second interview was with a woman, and she was even better than the first guy. He asked her the same question, "Do you notice anything different about me?" and she replied: "Well, you have no ears." Merv again was upset and tossed her out.
The third and last interview was the best of all three. It was with a very young man who was fresh out of college. He was smart. He was handsome. And he seemed to be a better businessman than the first two put together. Merv was anxious, but went ahead and asked the young man the same question: "Do you notice anything different about me?" And to his surprise, the young man answered: "Yes. You wear contact lenses."
Merv was shocked, and said, "What an incredibly observant young man. How in the world did you know that?"
The young man fell off his chair laughing hysterically and replied, "Well, it's pretty hard to wear glasses with no ears!"
