Thoughts for the day

There is a light snow in the air, then the sun shines, then the light snow returns.

I’m snuggled up in my townhouse and enjoying watching the snow fall and melt. Nothing sticking on the ground.

I’ve been studying my ballot, getting ready for Tuesday. Lots of propositions this time so it takes some studying. One is legalizing abortion, establish minimum wage for tipped workers, establish a $20 fee for every criminal conviction that will go to spouses of 1st responders killed on duty, and several to change the way citizen initiatives get on the ballot. Some have very tricky language.

Myths

Myth 8: The Most Venomous Animal on Earth

Ah, the King Cobra, that revered serpent often bestowed with the title of ultimate venomous danger. But before we place it on the throne as the unrivaled venom champion, there are other formidable contenders lurking in the natural world, waiting to claim their rightful place in the venomous hierarchy.

Certainly, the King Cobra’s venom is nothing to trifle with—it can dispatch a human within hours. However, you might be surprised to learn that lesser-known creatures like the box jellyfish, cone snail, and funnel-web spider harbor toxins far deadlier than their reptilian counterpart.

Random Thoughts…

McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets were introduced in 1981.
The Rolling Stones would never have been formed if Keith Richards and Mick Jagger hadn’t accidentally met at a train station in 1961.

Ancient Roman Life

Ancient Romans were known to love their dogs like family

Dogs have been human’s best friends for a long time. But that doesn’t mean we all know how long these four-legged companions have been part of our lives. The Molossus, a large breed that could be related to the Mastiff, was loved by ancient Romans. It was also imported as a lap dog called Melitans.

Dogs had collars and leashes. Mosaics and paintings warning people to beware of dogs were commonplaces in the city. The Zoninus collar is the most well-known collar. It reads, “I have run away,” and anyone who “receives a gold coin” it will return to Zoninus. However, people aren’t sure if it belongs to a dog or a slave.
