My
Rambling Thoughts
Started out as a rainy day, but in the late afternoon, it cleared
up a lot and was quite nice outside. Windows and doors didn’t open until 2pm. I
did a lot of laundry today. Not my favorite task, but one that has to be done
now and then. Clothes, towels and bedding are all clean so I’m ready for
whatever happens this weekend.
The wounds in St. Louis just keep getting deeper and deeper. Such
a sad time for all those people. Here the DOD is giving equipment to towns that
have no way to train people on how to and more importantly, WHEN to use military
equipment. A few years ago there was a SWAT vehicle on the street next to mine.
Some guy was inside one of the houses and refused to come out and had weapons.
The SWAT vehicle and the SWAT team here in Flag was enough for me. I sure don’t
want to see an armed tank on one of our streets.

When
Question Mark unlocked the door, he thought that he would see his wallet
straight away. But Skid Mark (Question's brother) decided to put the wallet in
a safe. The combination is three 2-digit numbers which can be expressed like
this:
xx-xx-xx
You are given the following clues to work out the combination:
The total of the three numbers is 39.
The second number is half of the third number.
The first number is the third number minus 1.
Can you find Question's wallet in time? It's all up to you.

O. N. Croswell, state inspector, reports that northern Arizona is
in the most prosperous condition it been in the past 10 years. There’s been
more rain than for several years past. The lumber mills are all on full time
and the hotels have many reservations. There’s no reason for us not to rival
Colorado Springs as a summer resort.

Joke-of-the-day
Tom was invited
to his friend’s house for dinner. He found that his buddy called his wife every
cute name in the book: honey, darling, sweetheart, pumpkin, and baby.
When she was in the kitchen, he leaned over to his friend and said, “I think it’s nice you still call your wife all those pet names.” “To tell you the truth,” his friend said, “I forgot her name about three years ago.”

Yeah, It
Really Happened
MADISON, Wis. (UPI) - A 24-year-old woman who "loves
giraffes" was kicked in the face after she entered the giraffe enclosure
at the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison. Amanda Hall climbed into the exhibit so she
could get up close and personal with a 2-year-old giraffe named Wally. The
12-foot-tall animal first licked Hall and then he booted her in the face. Hall
sustained non-life threatening injuries and Wally was not harmed. "Imagine
if that animal came into your house, how would you feel about that? You would
probably be nervous and excited, so an animal is going to have a similar experience,
have a similar response. Be a little nervous and excited and that is probably
what happened in this case," zoo curator Jeff Stafford told 27 News. Hall
was cited for harassment of zoo animals, an offense that carries a fine of
$686. Things could have been much worse for Hall because giraffes are capable
of delivering blows that can kill lions.
Somewhat
Useless Information
The
world's oldest emergency phone number is the U.K's 999 number that was
introduced on June 30, 1937. It was implemented after a call to the fire
brigade was held in a queue with the telephone company. The delay cost five
women their lives in the fire.
The first-ever 911 call in the United States happened on February 16, 1968, in Haleyville, Alabama. It wasn't until 1999 that Congress directed the FCC to make 911 the universal emergency number for the United States for all telephone services.
Known as the "The City Where 911 Began," Haleyville, Alabama, holds a 911 festival every year that honors all police, fire, and emergency personnel.

In
2006, 5-year-old Robert Turner called 911 when his mother collapsed from heart
problems. The call taker thought he was making a prank call and told the little
boy that she would send help and hung up. The boy waited three hours and, with
his mother still unconscious, called 911 again. This time, a different call
taker told the boy that he would get in trouble if he kept playing around.
Scared, the boy hung up. His mom died.

least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and
sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is
therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian
