FREE RAMBLING THOUGHTS
The Cards had a much needed bye this week. Denver gave the game to the Jets. Being in AZ I didn’t get to see the Denver game, but probably just as well. I watched a couple of Horror flicks which were probably better than the game anyway. I did catch my Sunday morning news fix and spent some time going through the paper. The day was not lost, but certainly was a lazy day.
I have read more than enough about the many ballot issues, and can’t wait for this election season to be over. I thought the primary in AZ was dirty, the actual ballot battle is even worse. Terry Goddard, the Dem candidate for Governor has been in politics ever since I can remember. Now, all of a sudden, one of the anti-Terry camps has pulled a letter from the 1960’s that states that he is ‘queer.’ It went viral. What a dirty campaign. Our non-elected Governor has made a statement that she is not ‘ill’. That rumor was started by the Dems, saying that she is very ill and is only running to win the office, and then she will resign and let the Republican Secretary of State become the governor. Dirty. Then there is all the $$$ that are being spent on all the campaign advertising. Most of the ads don’t tell us the candidate’s stand, only that the opponent is not working for America, and not going to work for us if elected or re-elected. Many are asking if the ads are right, and no one is working for us, why vote? In this campaign of dirty politics, I get that. However; all I can say is, if you don’t vote, the dirty politics will continue. It takes time to study the candidates and the issues important to you. Decide how to vote and get out there and do it. For me, I have done that and am ready for all this silliness to stop.
Flag was cloudy most of the day and finally after sunset the rain and thunder began. It is nice. There is not a lot of lightning or thunder and a gentle rain, hopefully with no flooding. Our forest can always use gentle rain. This storm may last all week, bringing rain every day. It is not expected to drop any snow on town, but should put some on the peaks.

UNUSUAL NEWS ITEM
WEST MELBOURNE, FL- Florida police said they used a stun gun to stop an 18-year-old nude jogger who repeatedly refused to halt. West Melbourne police said an officer responded to a report of a man running nude at about 7 a.m. Monday and spotted Zak Anthony King of Palm Bay, Fla., running along a street wearing nothing but swimming goggles, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Thursday.
The officer pulled up alongside King and repeatedly told him to stop but King did not comply, police said. The arrest report said the officer told King he would use his stun gun if he did not stop running and King was quoted as replying, "Why would you Tase me?" However, King did not stop and the officer used the stun gun to stun King, who fell to the sidewalk. King received treatment for minor injuries at a hospital and was given a notice to appear in court on charges of resisting arrest without violence and indecent exposure.

A woman in my office recently divorced after years of marriage, had signed up for a refresher CPR course.
"Is it hard to learn?" someone asked.
"Not at all," my co-worker replied. "Basically you're asked to breathe life into a dummy. I don't expect to have any problem. I did that for 12 years."

1540 de Soto arrives at the MOBILE Indian village of Mabila, in present day Clark County, Alabama. When in the village, Tascaluca disappears into a building. The MOBILE Indians, under Chief Tuscaloosa (Tascaluca), attack de Soto's invading army. In the bloody conflict, as many as 3,000 Indians will be killed by the armored Spaniards. Approximately 20 Spaniards would be killed, and 150 wounded, including de Soto, according to their chroniclers.
