Thoughts for the day

A very nice spring day, just a tad cool.

I just learned that Melania is Roman Catholic. It makes sense. Just hadn’t ever really thought about her religion. She and Donald attended the funeral of Pope Francis. The Vatican asked that those attending wear all black. Melania did, Donald wore a blue suit and tie, Biden wore a black suit with a blue tie. It is sad that neither man could follow the simple request.

Ancient Civilizations Few Have Heard Of…

The Hellenistic Kingdom Of Bactria: Afghanistan©jumbokedama on Wikimedia

Greek culture once thrived far beyond the Mediterranean, thanks to the Hellenistic Kingdom of Bactria. Centered in modern-day Afghanistan, this fusion state blended Greek art, language, and religion with local customs. Coins, sculptures, and ruins still whisper stories of a forgotten eastern Greece.

Random Thoughts…

The Milky Way Galaxy is called that, because the Romans called it Via Galactica, meaning Road Made of Milk.

Boston’s Irreversible Law of Clutter: In any household, junk accumulates to fill the space available for its storage.

Liberty Island and The Statue of Liberty are New York City-owned but physically reside entirely within New Jersey.

Taught in High School but not true…

The Titanic didn’t sink because of the iceberg

I’m not even sure if I learned this one in school or just from the cult-following of the movie Titanic when it came out. So not only is this movie the worst love story ever (Rose was awful, admit it), but it left out the crucial detail that there was a fire in the hull for three weeks before the collision.
