My
Rambling Thoughts
Word to the Wise re: Netflix…set a limit to the number of movies
to watch in a 24 hr period. Those who fail to follow this advice, prepare to
spend some late nights in front of the TV. My normal bedtime is 10pm, but with
Netflix, I’m sometimes up until 2a. Great movies though.
I expected a quiet day, but about 8a Mary called and said wanted
to know if I would like to go with her to the Greek Festival here in Flag. It
was a small gathering but great food. Little did I know that the Greek Orthodox
Church is renting the downtown Catholic Church
for its services. The Catholic Church moved its services to a new church
between downtown and East Flag. Then I read in today’s paper that the former
East Flag Catholic Church is being sold to a charter school. Guess I am not
keeping up with the religious community of Flag.
The weatherman predicted possible rain showers and luckily they
didn’t come until I was back home. Sure smells nice right now.

On the 16th our Mexican population fittingly celebrated the
Mexican holiday that corresponds to our 4th of July. There was a grand ball at
the Majestic on Wednesday evening with music by the Domas Brothers. It was a
highly pleasant and enjoyable occasion.

-In 1970, Richard Nixon signed the Controlled Substance Act into
law, making DMT and many other substances illegal. However, DMT is produced
naturally by the body, and found in a multitude of human bodily fluids and

A Chinese man donned a cartoon bear costume to conceal his
identity when he claimed an $87 million lottery jackpot. The man dressed in the
yellow bear suit Monday morning when he visited the Shanxi province facility to
collect his $85 million winnings, the third-largest jackpot in the history of
the Shanxi lottery, and he kept the costume on when he spoke to the media. The
mystery winner said he spends $3,200 to $4,900 on lottery tickets each year. He
said he plans to donate some of his winnings to charity. The man is not the
first in China to don a costume to keep his identity a secret when claiming a
lottery prize -- a person dressed as Mickey Mouse collected a $65 million
jackpot in August.
