My Rambling Thoughts
Another rainy and windy day…but no snow. This has been a very wet
May, and we certainly have needed the moisture. Living at 7000’ we take
moisture anyway it comes---even snow in the middle of May.
A lazy day. Didn’t feel like playing in the rain so turned on
Netflix and binge watched a few shows I’d started earlier. Felt good to just
kick back and enjoy.

Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
In
English, "re" is a prefix usually meaning "again", such as
in "rebuild" (build again). However, there are many words starting
with "re" which have a totally different meaning without the
"re".
You will be given two definitions, one for a word starting with "re",
and one for the remaining word without the "re" (either definition
could be given first).

2 jokes
for the day
The doorbell rang, and the lady of the house
discovered a workman, complete with tool chest, on the front door.
"Lady," he announced, "I'm the piano tuner."
The lady exclaimed, "Why, I didn't send for a piano tuner."
The man replied, "I know, but your neighbors did."

The top toothbrush salesman at the company was
asked by his boss how he managed to sell so many brushes.
He replied "It's easy" and he pulled out his card table, setting his
display of brushes on top. He told his boss, I lay the brushes out like this,
and then I put out some potato chips and dip to draw in the customers.
He laid out his chips and dip. His boss said, "That's a very innovative
approach" and took one of the chips, dipped it, and stuck it in his mouth.
"Yuck, this tastes terrible!" his boss yelled. The salesman replied
"IT IS! Want to buy a toothbrush?"

Yep, It
Really Happened
NORTH
ADAMS, Mass. (UPI) - A Massachusetts police department has a message for citizens:
"Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not
advised." The North Adams Police Department said in a Facebook post the
incident "really did happen" Monday and "the hatchet man was
taken into protective custody due to his incapacitation from the consumption of
alcoholic beverage." "The North Adams Police Department is urging
everyone to NOT chase bears through the woods with a dull hatchet, drunk,"
the post said. The post urged residents to steer clear of bears rather than
"going all Davy Crockett chasing it through the woods drunk with a dull
hatchet. It is just a bad idea and not going to end well." Police said
they are still working to determine what the man's planned "end game"
was if he had caught up to the animal.

Somewhat
Useless Information
Hansen
Gregory, an American ship captain, is the man credited with inventing the
classic hole-in-the-middle shape of the modern doughnut in 1847 by simply
punching out the middle. Other versions of the story describe Gregory piercing
the middle of the doughnut on the ship's steering wheel so he could use both
hands to steer.
When President John F. Kennedy announced in Berlin, "Ich bin ein
Berliner," he did not say, as is commonly believed, that he was a jelly
doughnut. The phrase is not only correct, but it is the only way to express
what the president had intended to say. To state, "Ich bin Berliner"
would imply that he was born in Berlin, whereas the word 'ein' implied he was a
Berliner in spirit.

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually
checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains
mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it
and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the
Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
