MY FREE RAMBLING THOUGHTS
What a good day. We got to Williams and had lunch at a cute little sandwich shop. Great food, and lots for the price. They also accommodate bus tours with boxed lunches. The company calls the order in as they leave Vegas and pick it up in Williams, then head to the Grand Canyon. I’m sure it’s the only way they could stay open and have such huge lunches. Then it was off to Bearizona. I wasn’t expecting a lot, but was nicely surprised. The drive through is a lot of fun. You see sheep—big horn in one area and Dall sheep along with bison, white bison, arctic and grey wolves, and of course black bear. You basically drive thru their cages and each animal group is kept separate. It was a very warm day, and most of the animals were asleep under trees, but were easily seen. Then there is the walk through with young cubs and teenage cubs in enclosures that are big and are easily seen. Then you can see two bobcats, and finally a petting zoo. We easily spent a couple of hours and had a great time. Then it was back to Cheryl’s for a great angel food cake with whipped cream and pineapple—a Cain family recipe that was a-m-a-a-a-a-z-ing. A good day for all.
Looking over the accomplishments of the Obama Administration…he is not a bragger but he has certainly accomplished a lot…so nice to see a list of accomplishments from Rachael Maddow show. Obama just does the job without playing to the press. What a nice change.
I had my teeth cleaned this morning. I have a nice, fairy young hygienist. She was asking me about my travels. Not easy to carry on a conversation, but this one was classic. She asked my ‘favorite’ place after stating that she had no travel bug. I told her that near the top was standing in Nelson Mandela’s cell. “He’s the guy who was put in prison for something, right?.” She hadn’t seen the movie. Then she asked me for another place. I told her standing in Robert Burn’s Library. “I never heard of him, where is his library?” Hmmm, dental hygienists don’t have to learn a lot, except how to clean gunk off of people’s teeth. It is sad that the younger generation is so specialized.

UNUSUAL NEWS ITEM:
NORWICH, Conn. — Officials in Connecticut are spinning their wheels trying to figure out who dumped as many as 2,500 tires on city property behind a restaurant.
Blight Control Officer Edward Martin says the mountain of tires in Norwich was first noticed by restaurant workers on Tuesday morning. The shift that left the night before didn't remember seeing them.
Some were used, marked "no good" with X's marking holes, while others appeared to be new, with the labels still attached. There were multiple brands.
Police went to local tire dealers, but they all said they pay a contractor to haul away their old tires.
Police are hoping video surveillance from nearby businesses yields some clues.
Mayor Peter Nystrom says he's disgusted and vowed to prosecute the dumper
