Thoughts for the day

Chilly wind but bearable outside.

Interesting: in a fire--a gas powered car burns up in 1-2 hours, an electric vehicle takes about 12 hours. Both give off toxic gas during their entire burn.

I wonder if China would allow an American made app that collects the same data as Tic Toc would be allowed? Facebook collects much of the same data and is banned in China.

Biden states the Equal Rights Amendment is ratified. He will leave office with many pending law suits to this proclamation. He also commuted 1500 nonviolent offenders. What about Leonard Peltier?

Mayan Culture of Mexico and beyond…

They believed flat foreheads were the most desirable aesthetic.

The Mayan people were a very vain group, always looking to attain the highest aesthetic standard. According to Mayan aesthetic, flatter foreheads were the ideal look.

To achieve this, mothers used to use boards to press the foreheads of their babies to flatten them out. This was most often done among the higher-class citizens.

Random Thoughts…

‘Lived’ and ‘Died’ mean the same thing.

A group of Lice is called a Flock.

Chester Gould’s friend, Al Gross invented the walkie-talkie, and that was the inspiration for Dick Tracey’s wrist radio in January 1946.

There are 6 American Flags Planted on the Moon. They are probably all white now, bleached by the Sun’s rays.

Origin of city nicknames…

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: ‘City of Brotherly Love’

Philadelphia's nickname is actually very logical, as the city’s name combines the Greek words for love (phileo) and brother (adelphos). This idealistic sobriquet stems from the city’s founder, William Penn, a 17th century Quaker pacifist who imagined his new city as a place of religious tolerance where no one would be persecuted. Whether or not his dream succeeded, the city has long fought for human rights, including the New World’s first organized protest against slavery in 1688.
