My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Got my Covid
test this morning, should have the results Monday. I am so much
better I flipped the mattress and laundered the linens. Good deal! Since I had a
career with the Federal Government, I as used to government shutdowns October
1. It is Congress way of saying: our ideas are more important than a
functioning government. The shutdowns are usually when there is a Republican
President, but not always. The government sends all the workers home for a
few days, they finally vote, the employees return. Employees always get paid.
That means that for however long the Feds are shut down, no daily work gets
done…and employees are paid anyway. There are exceptions for ‘essential
workers’. In my Bureau that was the Principal and the Superintendent only.
This is one of the craziest practices I have ever seen. Time will tell if the
Gov’t shuts down on Oct. 1. I am pleased
that so many of my friends keep calling and checking to be sure I don’t need
anything. I don’t, but it sure is a good feeling. |
