My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Aw very warm day. I understand that 85° is not warm for many, but at 7000’, it is considered very warm.

I did some laundry and watched my Sunday morning news shows. Now I’m just relaxing and hoping for rain.

The ice cream magnate governor of AZ has never been pro-public education. During his tenure he has pushed for more SS to charter and private schools while decrying the state of public education in AZ. The latest bill he signed allows non-degreed people to be hired as teachers in public schools if they are enrolled in a BA program somewhere. His claim is that this will ease the teacher shortage in AZ. Charter and private schools have been hiring teachers without certification for years. Now every school in AZ can. Disturbing for sure.

Some very good tennis at Wimbledon yesterday. Watching their skill is very enjoyable.

I’m not sold on Biden’s trip to Saudi Arabia. I’ll see if he is right.

12. Marrakech, Morocco

The “Red City” of Marrakesh is a magical place, brimming with markets, gardens, palaces, and mosques. Exploring the intimate courtyards and snaking alleyways of the historic Medina can easily eat up a day.

11. Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings.

10. Hurghada, Egypt

Stunning coral reefs and turquoise waters perfect for windsurfing have made Hurghada, on Egypt's Red Sea Coast, a busy resort town.

Trivia

While bananas are known for being rich in potassium, avocados have even more. A single avocado has 975 milligrams, while a banana only has 487 milligrams.

Approximately 75% of an avocado's energy comes from fat.

The Hass avocado is the most commonly known and popular type of avocado worldwide. The green fruit is named after Rudolph Hass, who discovered the variety in his backyard in California and patented it in 1935.

The word "avocado" is from the Aztec word for "testicle."
