Thoughts for the day
Monsoon in full steam today. Still raining after 2-1/2 hours. There was
even some small pea sized hail. Yesterday there was a nice 2 hour rainstorm.
I had lunch with Mary and Mike. Mary is doing very well after her ankle
surgery a few months ago. They haven’t
been in Flag since February, so it was nice to catch up.
We have crossed the midline. 2050 is now closer than 2000.
So the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ has finally passed. Now we wait to see
how these changes will affect each and every American. I am hopeful that all
the bad stuff will happen on a much smaller scale than we have been told.
Famous Quotes That People Have Always
Misinterpreted
"Elementary, dear Watson" – Sherlock Holmes ©Photo
Credit: Alex Segre/Shutterstock
This phrase is thought to be from the Sherlock Holmes books,
written by Arthur Conan Doyle. The closest anyone can find to this quote is
from “Elementary,” when Holmes says “Excellent” in response to Watson. It shows
just how easy it is for pop culture to change what actually happened in a
story.
Famous Historical Myths That People
Still Believe Today
The Great Wall of China Is Visible from Space ©Jakub
Hałun on Wikimedia Commons
Many believe the Great Wall is the only man-made structure
visible from space, but that is not true. Astronauts have confirmed it is
difficult to see with the naked eye. Other structures, like cities and
airports, are much more visible from the orbit.
