sound foolish or ignorant, especially if you are trying to sound smart by using
(and misusing) some of these common phrases.
What
is the difference between "e.g." and "i.e."?
The
abbreviation e.g. stands for the Latin exempli gratia, or "for the sake of
example." It means exactly that; a series of examples. The abbreviation
i.e. stands for id est, or "that is," and explains the subject you
have mentioned.

State Name Origins
There are several different theories regarding
the name "Kentucky," though it has a Native American origin. Kentucky
comes from the Iroquois word "ken-tah-ten," which means "land of
tomorrow." The other possible meanings for "Kentucky" that
derive from the Iroquois language are: "meadow," "prairie,"
and "the river of blood."
There is no disputing the origin of
Louisiana's name. The home of Cajun cooking and jazz music was named in honor
of King Louis XIV of France, the Sun King, by explorer René-Robert Cavelier in
the mid-1600s.

My Rambling Thoughts
Several nice storms yesterday. Hoping for more today. Still very
warm. It is very hazy today. NWS says it is due to CA and CO fires. WOW!
It is a lazy day…stayed up till 1am watching Netflix. It was
enjoyable.
AZ had a great turnout for a primary earlier this month. Registered
voters turned out at 39%...a primary record. The party split was 52-48 to the
Republicans. Republicans did 88% of their voting early. In the 2018 primary the
split was 63-37 to the Republicans. Democrat voters are on the move.
The AZ MVD held a contest to design a new personalized plate to
honor Code Talkers. A Flagstaff High Native student had the winning design that
will be available in 2021.
The news has been filled with various scams related to the Covid
outbreak. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the FDA has pulled 115 brands
of hand sanitizer from the shelves because they had methanol, a toxic chemical.
Be sure to check the label when buying. Also check the FDA website for recalls.
About a month ago I found sanitizer after not seeing any since the pandemic
began. I bought it at Sam’s Club. Two days later I got a recall email from Sam’s.
It had methanol.
